ELKINS, W.Va. — A global technology company has opened up operations in Elkins and will soon expand. Randolph County, the city of Elkins, and State Economic Development Secretary Mitch Carmichael were on hand Tuesday to welome 22nd Century Technologies to the area.
“Here in this office we currently have close to 30 people and we’re expanding. We’re projecting we’ll need 80 to 100 people,” said 22nd Century CEO Anil Sharma.

The company is headquartered in McLean, Virginia and provides I-T support mainly to the public sector.”When they need I-T Support those are the functions we provide and support for the different government agencies.,” Sharma explained.
Their work covers an array of technology solutions including, cybersecurity, digital transformation, cloud migration, application modernization, IT infrastructure, operations and maintenance, and workforce solutions.
Initially the company planned to use the Elkins operations to support a contract with the Internal Revenue Service. However, Sharma noted they have since added three more government support contracts and will be expanding the staff to fill those roles.
